Streetly Evangelical Church

About Us

We are a friendly independent evangelical Church just around the corner from Blackwood shops. Our services are informal and relaxed with activities suitable for all ages and you would be very welcome to come along.

The Church was built by the Grace of God who moved 5 young men who had moved into Streetly to live, with their families to build a church and start a witness. It opened on Easter Sunday 1959. Through those years hundreds of people have enjoyed different groups and activities for all ages and countless lives have been changed through a personal experience of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

The Basis of Faith is taken from the book of Acts and we are known as Christian Brethren.

We believe the Godhead consists of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and these three are one; by whom all things were created, the Heavens, the Earth and all that is in them.

Satan is the great enemy of God and the source of all evil

Man was created by God in his own image rule dominion ofver creation. Through the prompting of Satan, man wilfully disobeyed God and sin entered into the world and death by sin. So death passed upon all men for all had sinned and come short of the glory of God

Eternal Death is the spiritual state of being seperated from God, being everlasting punishment for sin

Salvation from sin and eternal life because of God's love, is offered to all through the person and work of God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

God the Son became man, was conceived by the virgin Mary, though without sin, he became obedient unto death and laid down his life as a sacrifice for the sin of the world, he was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the scriptures. After 40 days he ascended into heaven.

God the Holy Spirit came to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement, and to guide men into all truth.

Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his atoning work at Calvary, is the only means by which one may obtain Redemption, Eternal Life and all Spiritual Blessings.

The Church is the universal body of believers, born again through faith in the redeeming work of the Lord Jesus Christ who is it's only Head.

Baptism is the means by which a believer gives witness of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, identifying themself with the death and resurrection of the Lord, by being immersed in water.

The Lords Supper (Communion) is the way commanded by the Lord whereby believers remember him in the breaking of the bread and drinking of the wine.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God

The Coming of the Lord will be a personal return into the air for his Church. The dead in Christ shall rise first and those who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord , so shall they ever be with the Lord.

Membership of the Church is open to all those who believe the doctrines set forth above and who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and as their own personal saviour and observer the Believers Baptism by immersion in water on personal confession of Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the commemoration of his death in the breaking of the Bread as far as circumstances permit.
